The Outpatient Therapist at Avera Professional Plaza provides outpatient counseling services, including individual, group, and family therapy, to clients with mental health or dual diagnoses issues. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support clients' progress. Additionally, the therapist delivers educational programs and ensures the confidentiality and proper documentation of client interactions.

A Brief Overview
Assists in coordinating, planning, implementing and facilitating programs and counseling services on an outpatient basis. The Outpatient Therapist's responsibilities may include several of the following areas: individual, group and family counseling, crisis services/evaluation, tele-therapy services, and current and future groups/programs. All of these areas may involve providing assessments, facilitating treatment and crisis intervention of clientele affected by mental health or dual diagnoses issues. Providing community/education services will be a part of this position and some travel is occasionally required.
What you will do
Coordinates a clinical treatment program for the diagnosis, treatment or referral of clients/patients presenting moderate to severe social adjustment problems.
Adheres to policies which assure the confidentiality of client communications.
Provides for a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to the treatment of clients, coordinating same with appropriate hospital departments.
Conducts individual, family, or group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles of the National Association of Social Workers.
Assesses progress of clients/patients and modify or extend treatment program accordingly.
Coordinates care of clients/patients with referring physician or agency.
Documents therapy in accordance with hospital policies and procedures on medical records.
Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment such as substance abuse, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes and other instances as outlined in hospital policy.
Refers client or patient to outside agencies where appropriate.
Communicates with family members/significant others in order to further the effectiveness of client/patient treatment and progress.
Coordinates client/patient billing and modify treatment program in accordance with insurance coverage, plan provisions, and individual ability to pay.
Provides educational programs on a variety of psychological topics to hospital/community groups as requested.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) - Department of Health and Human Services An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire 4-6 years Related experience and/or training Clinical experience facilitating group therapy sessions and providing individuals counseling services Experience working with clients having dual diagnoses issues (addictive disorders in conjunction with mental health conditions) Clinical experience with couples and/or family therapy
