Radiology Technologist at Yale New Haven Health summary: As a Radiology Technologist, I utilize advanced imaging equipment to produce high-quality radiographic images under the supervision of a Diagnostic Radiology Manager. I ensure patient care excellence by following protocols, assisting in scheduling, and providing clear communication about procedures to patients. Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality radiographic images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Promotes service excellence in all interactions as outlined in the Key Behaviors in the YNHH Core Success Factors and serves as a mentor for junior staff. Additionally, the Rad Tech 2 functions with minimal supervision, is expected to work independently in problem solving and may assume responsibility for Radiography section operations in the absence of the Assistant Chief Tech. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities • 1. Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex diagnostic imaging equipment. Efficiently follows routine protocols, demonstrates independent judgment and has minimal downtime. - 1.1 Follows routine protocols and refers to the source document to ensure the correct exam is performed. • 2. Actively participates in workflow activities in order to ensure the goals of the department are met and runs efficiently - 2.1 Assists schedulers, physicians, nursing and other appropriate staff with scheduling, obtaining requisitions or pre-authorization, patient preparation instructions, and other exam-related communications. • 3. Performs quality and compassionate patient care in order to ensure cooperation, safety and satisfaction. Demonstrates accuracy on safety screening and continues to promote our pledge for service excellence. - 3.1 Thoroughly explains various procedures to the patient and offer emotional support. • 4. Performs various record keeping, customer service functions to ensure exam charges are properly billed and communicates feedback. - 4.1 Consistently selects the correct patient from the worklist. • 5. Educational activities - Participates in various teaching, learning, and research opportunities in order to further professional knowledge and expertise or to assist in expanding knowledge of others. - 5.1 Is receptive to teaching newly -hired technologist as observed by supervisor or input from staff. • 6. Maintaining Career Ladder requirements to remain a Radiology Tech II - 6.1 Must have achieved at least a successful rating in most recent performance appraisal. Overall Performance rating must be at least Fully Meets or Exceeds Expectations with no success factor falling below Fully Meets Expectations. Qualifications EDUCATION Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program., Has ARRT and is in C.E. compliance. Has a current Connecticut state license. EXPERIENCE Demonstrated above average technical skills and excellent communication skills, RT(R) certification by the American Registry of, Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Connecticut State License. LICENSURE CT STATE LICENSE AND ARRT LICENSE. SPECIAL SKILLS Proficient in advanced Radiography CR/Digital imaging techniques, above average, knowledge of computer / Pacs applications, and good organizational and communication/customer service, skills. PHYSICAL DEMAND Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to assist with patient transfers.
