pstrongAbout the role: /strongThe Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of kitchen operations and supervision of meal services program, inventory supply, volunteers, and staff at an Abode homeless shelter. This position is also responsible for completing required reports, intake and exit procedures for participants, and conducting required training for volunteers and staff. /p

pstrongHow You Make an Impact:/strong/p
ul
liDevelop and maintain cooperative and productive working relations with meal service program volunteers. /li
liBe on site and accessible to meal service program volunteers during meal preparation and service. /li
liDevelop and implement an acceptable clean kitchen and equipment program. /li
liProvide information and recommendations to the Shelter Manager regarding program evaluation and modifications to better meet needs of the kitchen, meal program, and inventory control. /li
liEnsure proper maintenance of kitchen, dining rooms, kitchen equipment, and storage pantries. /li
liMaintain data quality control and reporting measures of the food service program. Complete monthly meal report by the 3rd of the month. /li
liControl food inventory and program supplies. /li
liShop for large quantities of program supplies 2-3 times monthly, within budget guidelines. /li
liEnsure resident’s bag lunch program is prepared on a daily basis. /li
liAssist with stocking the food pantries at other Abode Services’ sites. /li
liPlan and supervise cooking of meals when not provided by a meal volunteer group. /li
liMonitor and maintain the inventory, supplies, and condition of the kitchen. Ensure dining rooms and kitchen are stocked with necessary meal service supplies (plates, bowls, silverware, cups, etc.). /li
liDevelop and implement general kitchen, meal preparation, and serving and cleaning procedures. /li
liHandle food donations; utilize food grown in Sunrise Village garden. /li
liPurge kitchen refrigerators and food pantry at least twice a week, purge freezers once a week and additional food storage spaces 1-2 times a quarter. Ensure all expired and spoiled food is disposed of in a timely manner. /li
liMaintain acceptable standards of professional conduct. /li
liAttend outside meetings or training pertaining to the safety and wellbeing of the meal service program. /li
liAssist at the front desk as needed. /li
liAct as a member of a cohesive team. Maintain professional image. /li
liConduct SafeServ training for volunteers and staff 1-2 times a quarter. /li
liOther duties as assigned./li

pstrongHow You Meet Qualifications/strong: /p
ul
liHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED) /li
li1 year experience in customer services. /li
liSafeServ certification and SafeServ trainer certification is required. /li
liRole requires a vehicle and some driving. Use of personal vehicle and proof of valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance, along with a clean DMV record, is required. /li
liFlexible schedule to work evening and weekend hours when required. /li

liPrevious experience or training in a kitchen/meal service and janitorial services. /li

liAbility to learn and use required mobile devices and business-related applications. /li
liOutstanding communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, with a proven track record to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts. /li
