As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will provide instruction and leadership for programs within Exeter Area YMCA, ensuring that program participants receive a quality experience in a safe environment./ppThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This part-time Group Fitness Instructor will lead group classes for older active adults in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes all skills and fitness levels. Instructors are responsible for effectively building community within classes and modifying classes as needed to meet varied health, ability and community needs. This is a part time role where just a few hours a week may be all you work./ppbr//ppstrongESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/strong/pulliProvide exceptional customer service./liliIntegrate the mission of the YMCA and follow the core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into the healthy living aspect of all classes./liliLead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes for older active adults./liliMaintain working knowledge of industry and wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members./liliBuild effective and authentic relationships with members to assist them in connecting with each other and the YMCA./liliPromotes programs, classes and services to all members and encourages cross training and fun activity to attain individual health and wellness goals./liliHelp maintain a safe, organized and clean, class area./liliMust complete all required YMCA trainings (at hire, within 30 days of hire and annual trainings)/liliAdhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers./liliAttend required abuse risk management training./liliReport suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations./liliFollow mandated abuse reporting requirements./liliOther duties as assigned./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpbr//ppbr//ppstrongQUALIFICATIONS/strong/ppbr//pulliProfessional certification and ongoing required training to maintain certification through a nationally recognized organization or equivalent for classes being taught./liliCPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of DOH./liliSuperb customer service skills./li/ulpbr//ppbr//ppstrongPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/strong/pulliAbility to physically perform all physical motions of the exercise being led./liliAbility to stand for long periods of time./liliAbility to bend, kneel, push, and pull./liliAbility to lift up to 20 lbs./liliAbility to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs./liliAbility to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations./li/ulpbr//ppRequirements/ppbr//ppstrongSouthern District YMCA is an Equal Opportunities employer and embraces diversity in our employee population.
