The Elder Sharath works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, medical staff, visitors and volunteers to create this positive environment. nbsp;Responsibilities include but are not limited to personal care, housekeeping amp; home maintenance, food preparation and service, activities, recordkeeping and household financial management. nbsp;/ppbr//ppstrongESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:/strong/ppuPersonal Care:/u/pulliAll essential functions will be performed with empathy, dignity and respect of the Elder and will respect and accommodate resident’s individual choices whenever possible. nbsp;The Elder Sharath will also facilitate and help the resident to complete as much of their personal care as possible/liliProvides for the daily hygiene care of the elders to include: nbsp;bathing, dressing, grooming and related personal care/liliAssists resident to have clothes purchased, laundered, and repaired as needed/liliResponsible for taking and properly recording elder’s vital signs. nbsp;(i.e.: nbsp;blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)./liliResponsible for observing Elders well being (i.e.: nbsp;change in behavior, change in vital signs, etc.) and reporting such changes to the appropriate team member/li/ulpuHousekeeping amp; Maintenance of Home:/u/pulliInvolves the Elders in maintaining the home whenever possible/liliCleans all areas of the Elder’s environment according to housekeeping procedures/liliPerforms minor household maintenance such as changing light bulbs, tightening cupboard knobs, etc/liliReports shortages, breakage and malfunctioning of equipment/liliKnows and adheres to fire, emergency, and security policies and procedures/liliImplements infection control measures/li/ulpuFood Preparation amp; Service:/u/pulliPlans meals with the Elder and with others in the household to provide an appetizing, balanced/liliand nutritious diet. nbsp;Facilitates flexibility in meal plan and provision/liliEncourages Elder’s participation in food preparation, service, and clean up/liliPrepares and stores food as per requirements of Serve Safe™ course/liliEncourages and makes available healthy snacks/liliOrders groceries as per procedure/liliSupports the Elder in adhering to special diet requirements as required by the care plan/li/ulpuCommunication:/u/pulliMaintains confidentiality of information about the Elder and his or her family, etc./liliKeeps the Nurse informed of any changes in the Elder’s condition through incidental and formal reports. nbsp;Reports must be timely based on the type of change observed./liliWork as a productive, supportive and communicative team member/liliParticipates actively in team conferences and all other care team meetings/liliAccurately record care and observations on the clinical record of the resident/liliResponsible for ordering supplies for Cottage from appropriate departments/liliEncourage and support meaningful activities for Elders throughout the day using living opportunities, i.e., meal preparation, laundry, visiting as well as structured activities when possible/li/ulpuSafety:/u/pulliObeys safety rules of St. John’s United/liliIdentifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards/liliRoutinely places wet floor signs or other safety warning materials to notify others of the hazard/liliAttends mandatory safety in-services/li/ulpuMission/Customer Service:/u/ppSupports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals./ppbr//ppFollows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service/pp*Let the Mission be your guide/pp*Make eye contact and smile/pp*Greet amp; welcome each and every person/pp*Seek out personal contact/pp*Provide immediate service-listen amp; act/pp*Use appropriate body language at all times/pp*Be gracious to each amp; every person/ppbr//ppuEmployee Responsibilities:/u/pulliFollows policy and procedures on annual TB testing./liliFollows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations./liliAttends all mandatory in-services/liliPerforms other duties as assigned by the Health Director, Executive Director of The Crossings or person in charge of area where work is being done./li/ulpRequirements/ppstrongREQUIREMENTS:/strong/ppuMinimum Requirements: /unbsp;High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred. Must possess a current Montana State Nurses Aide Certification, or have completed the SJU CNA Course and will obtain certification within 120 days of class completion./ppbr//ppuKnowledge:/u Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of the Elder Sharath training, must be certified nursing assistant and, complete Abuse Training and required training in Serve Safe ™, food preparation, basic nutritional guidelines related to resident menu planning and basics of household financial management, housekeeping, infection control, light maintenance./ppbr//ppuSkills/Abilities:/u Must possess good writing, verbal and observation skills. nbsp;Excellent interpersonal communication skills. nbsp;Exceptional organizational abilities.nbsp;/ppbr//ppuComplexity/Difficulty:/u This position requires the ability to function independently in performing duties and be able to problem solve using good judgment with the Elder’s involvement whenever possible. nbsp;The person needs to be able to respond to Elders needs in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the Elder’s rights. nbsp;Incumbent performs job tasks following established procedures and works with team leader to identify and address problems or concerns within the team./ppbr//ppstrongPHYSICAL DEMANDS:/strong/ppRequires lifting, bending, walking and standing for prolong periods of time.
