Instructors play an integral role in student success in this program. Success is defined as; students adopting safe driving habits, learning driver etiquette, understanding one’s vehicle, anticipating situations that may turn dangerous, and completing all applicable lessons and tests./divbrbr/ph2Position Duties/h2pTo perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.ulliProvide behind the wheel training for ages 15 and aboveliWork cooperatively with students and their parentsliPrepare and instruct classroom lessons according to approved syllabus and curriculum.liDocument students’ attendance and progress.liAssist in the management of the Driver Education vehicles.liParticipates in curriculum planning and development as needed.liRepresent the Community Education Department and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner.liResponsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department./ul/ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pstrongINSTRUCTORS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA/strongulliValid Oregon driver license.liGood driving record, (attach a copy of 5-year DMV print to the application) required.liNot more than one drivernbsp;improvement violation within the preceding 12 months or more than two within the preceding 24 months.liNo drug or alcohol-related traffic violation, conviction or infraction within the preceding five years.liNo driver's license suspension, cancellation, revocation or denial within the preceding three years.liNot have a conviction for any of the crimes listed in OAR 737-015-0070 (A criminal history check is required before beginning the training program).liFirst Aid and CPR certificationliCompletion of the Oregon Driver Education Instructor Training program. Training program requirements include having valid driving privileges for three or more years and being 21 years of age or older. 120 to 150 hours training and study time.nbsp; Tuition and travel expenses for training will be provided for hired applicants.
