The Personal Care Attendant will also facilitate and help the resident to complete as much of their personal care as possible/liliProvides for the daily hygiene care of the elders to include: nbsp;bathing, dressing, grooming and related personal care/liliAssists resident to have clothes purchased, laundered, and repaired as needed/liliResponsible for taking and properly recording elder’s vital signs. nbsp;(i.e.: nbsp;blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)./liliResponsible for observing Elders well being (i.e.: nbsp;change in behavior, change in vital signs, etc.) and reporting such changes to the appropriate team member/li/ulpbr//ppuHousekeeping amp; Maintenance of Home:/u/pulliInvolves the Elders in maintaining the home whenever possible/liliCleans all areas of the Elder’s environment according to housekeeping procedures/liliPerforms minor household maintenance such as changing light bulbs, tightening cupboard knobs, etc/liliReports shortages, breakage and malfunctioning of equipment/liliKnows and adheres to fire, emergency, and security policies and procedures/liliImplements infection control measures/li/ulpbr//ppuFood Preparation and Service:/u/pulliPlans meals with the Elders and with others in the household to provide an appetizing, balanced and nutritious diet. nbsp;Facilitates flexibility in meal plan and provision/liliEncourages Elder’s participation in food preparation, service, and clean up/liliPrepares and stores food as per requirements of Serve Safe™ course/liliEncourages and makes available healthy snacks/liliOrders groceries as per procedure/liliSupports the Elders in adhering to special diet requirements as required by the care plan/li/ulpbr//ppuCommunication:/u/pulliMaintains confidentiality of information about the Elder and his or her family, etc/liliKeeps the Nurse informed of any changes in the Elder’s condition through incidental and formal reports. nbsp;Reports must be timely based on the type of change observed./liliWork as a productive, supportive and communicative team member/liliParticipates actively in team conferences and all other care team meetings/liliAccurately record care and observations on the clinical record of the resident/liliResponsible for ordering supplies for Brown’s Landing and Cottage from appropriate departments/liliEncourage and support meaningful activities for Elders throughout the day using living opportunities, i.e., meal preparation, laundry, visiting as well as structured activities when possible/li/ulpbr//ppuSafety:/u/pulliObeys safety rules of St. John’s United/liliIdentifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards/liliRoutinely places wet floor signs or other safety warning materials to notify others of the hazard/liliAttends mandatory safety in-services/li/ulpbr//ppuMission/Customer Service:/u/ppSupports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals./ppbr//ppFollows the St. John’s Guidelines for Customer Service/pp* Let the Mission be your guide/pp* Make eye contact and smile/pp* Greet amp; welcome each and every person/pp* Seek out personal contact/pp* Provide immediate service-listen amp; act/pp* Use appropriate body language at all times/pp* Be gracious to each amp; every person/ppRequirements/ppstrongREQUIREMENTS:/strong/ppMinimum Requirements: nbsp;High school diploma or GED preferred. nbsp;Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred. nbsp;Must complete the SJU CNA Course within 6 months from hire date.
