At multiple locations throughout our community, we help restore the lives of people experiencing homelessness and addiction through emergency services, rehabilitation, transitional programs, and community outreach./ppbr/ppstrongThe Opportunity:nbsp;/strong/ppbr/ppThe “Community Life Coordinator” position is an essential and pivotal role at Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) and for our Shelters across the Denver Metro area. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shelter to include security and safety, providing program and check-in support, ensuring inventory levels are adequate, providing shift and schedule administration and adhering to the cleanliness of the facility./ppbr/ppstrongRESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE but not be limited to:/strong/ppbr/ppustrongSecurity and Safety/strong/ustrong:/strong/pulliThe Community Life Coordinator (CLC) will be responsible for the security and safety of the facility and residents during their shift. This includes control of drugs, alcohol or other hazards which could jeopardize the purpose of the Mission or its clients./liliThe CLC will have working knowledge of the Safety manual and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) manual./liliThe CLC will be responsible for ensuring that situations that may jeopardize the safety of the Mission and its occupants are handled appropriately. This will require handling difficult and unruly clients/guests as well as making certain that occupants are free from drugs, alcohol and weapons./liliThe CLC will ensure the safety and welfare of our outside guests by calling police, ambulances or opening the chapel for shelter from the elements./liliMonitor and relay weather information to the Supervisor of Community Life Services and/or the Senior Director of Community Life Services in case overflow is needed. This is also for potential weather-related emergencies./liliThe CLC will assist the LSCC Staff as needed at the Lawrence Street Community Center./li/ulpustrongProgram Support / Next Step Participants/strong/ustrong:/strong/pulliThe CLC will enforce facility rules and will assist in implementing disciplinary actions, as requested. This will be done in cooperation with the Next Step Manager and team and on an individual basis./liliFacilitate Shelter Team meetings in the absence of the Team Lead by taking roll call, raising issues of the facility that need to be addressed (i.e. dress code, conduct, etc.), and setting an encouraging tone to begin each shift./liliEnsures the facility is abiding by drug and alcohol guidelines by conducting scheduled and random UA/BA’s on Next Step members and entering the results into SCRIBE./liliMaintain the dorm(s) to the established standard (monitored through the daily walk-through)./li/ulpustrongWork Therapy/strong/ustrong:/strong/pulliBy means of the job roster, the CLC will manage, train, and coach program participants in their job duties and know the whereabouts of program participants at all times./liliUnder the guidance of the Supervisor of Community Life, help train residents for their assigned job duties and necessary soft skills that will benefit them as individuals and workers (mostly on-the-job style training)./li/ulpustrongFacilities/strong/ustrong:/strong/pullistrongCleanliness of the Facility:/strong ensures that the Mission is cleaned according to the established standard. This will include the daily cleaning, removal, dispersion, or storage of all clutter, trash, donations, parking lot trash, sidewalks, etc. There will be no unnecessary accumulation of anything. If the CLC feels the Mission needs something beyond what is normally understood to be mandatory, it must be cleared by the Senior Director of Community Life and/or Shelter Supervisor./lilistrongInventory:/strong the CLC will follow the established means of receiving, recording, monitoring and distribution of inventory supplies purchased by the Mission for the daily operations and maintenance of the Shelter(s).nbsp;/lilistrongMaintenance:/strong Through daily inspections, the CLC will generate a list of work orders for presentation to the Maintenance Coordinator./lilistrongSchedules:/strong Ensures all services are started and finished according to schedule (Chapel, bed check-in, showers, staging of OG’s Clinic, etc.)/li/ulpstrongAdditional Responsibilities:/strong/pulliThe CLC will understand their role in the daily running of the Mission including specific shift’s area of focus: cleanliness, bed check-in, facility safety, etc./liliThe CLC will have good, solid working knowledge of the facility and program policies and procedures, operation of the facility, mechanical operation of the facility including: fire alarm, electric, gas, and water shut-off, etc.), how to control and track inventory, inventory and use of the maintenance room, pipeline responsibilities, safety, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines, employee handbook, and gift-in-kind (GIK) receiving and distribution./liliSchedules time off with the Supervisor of Emergency services or Senior Director of Shelter Services so there is always a staff member on duty during all shifts./liliThe CLC will show their presence around the facility throughout their shift./liliOther tasks as assigned by the Shelter Supervisor and Director of Community Life./li/ulpstrongWorking Conditions:/strong/pulliOccasional lifting up to 35 lbs., to include bending and climbing stairs./liliWork with individuals who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and a myriad of other issues related to the homeless populations./liliMay experience possible exposure to communicable diseases./li/ul/div
