h1bSummary/b/h1pThe student tutor conducts one-on-one or small group tutorial sessions in the content area of biology for nursing, specifically for BIO 220, BIO 240, and BIO 253 courses. The student tutor tutors a diverse population of undergraduate students in the Content-Area Tutoring Center. The peer tutor works in the Center in-person a minimum of 10 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays./ph1/h1p/ph1bEssential Functions/b/h1p1.   Provides one-on-one and small-group tutorial services to a diverse population of undergraduate students. The tutor:/pullipIdentifies students’ content-area skills needs./p/lilipDifferentiates strategies and instructional materials to meet individual students’ needs./p/lilipAssists student in understanding the material while fostering student autonomy./p/lilipEngages students in tutoring sessions by utilizing active learning strategies./p/lilipMotivates students by being an active listener./p/lilipProvides positive feedback and makes recommendations for further study or practice, and respects students’ diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives./p/li/ulp/pp2.   Documents student work and progress by:/pullipUsing the processes and systems established within the Content-Area Tutoring Center to document student progress./p/lilipEntering all data in a timely fashion as specified by the Glenn Hubert Learning Center’s Manager./p/lilipCommunicating with the Glenn Hubert Learning Center’s Manager regarding students with challenging or unique situations and documenting record details of such situations through the specified means within the Content-Area Tutoring Center./p/li/ulp/pp3.    Participates in professional development and training sessions as related to tutor responsibilities.
