C Lineman - Transmission (Duke)

pstrongPosition Summary:/strong The Class C Lineman Transmission is an entry level lineman position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. This position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands./p pnbsp;/p pstrongEssential Functions:/strong/p ul liWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work./li liStringing overhead wire./li liSetting poles and anchors./li liFrequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others./li liMaintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order./li liDoes all other related work as required to complete the job./li liMust be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather./li liAble to perform rigorous physical labor./li liCapable of learning transmission voltages on a circuit./li liMust be familiar with induced voltage./li liCapable of safely setting a pole./li liCapable of learning to understand and read blueprints./li liCapable of assisting with inspecting and recognizing structural problems./li liAble to work productively from an aerial device./li liCapable of assisting in troubleshooting./li liAble to work alone on de-energized lines./li liCapable of obtaining knowledge of wire stringing techniques./li liCapable of learning and understanding how to sag wire from structure or bucket./li liAble to assist with assembly and erect towers to all heights./li liAble to assist with working from an aerial ladder to catch off and clip in./li liAble to assist in framing and setting most basic line structures./li liAble to assist in framing a de-energized pole structure in the air./li liAble to assist with installing all types of compression connections./li liCapable of working at heights and/or confined spaces./li liCapable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up./li liCapable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE./li liMust be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so./li liUnderstands how to tie various lineman knots./li liCapable of making up and using a hand line./li liUnderstands grounding procedures./li liUnderstands proper equipment set-up and grounding procedures./li liUnderstands how and when to use Kellum grips./li liAble to identify different types of materials used in line work./li liUnderstands minimum approach distance./li liUnderstands flag and tag procedures./li liCapable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.nbsp;/li /ul pstrongMinimum Requirements:/strong/p ul li1-year minimum of field experience./li liAble to read and communicate effectively in English./li liAble to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment./li liA Commercial Driver’s License is preferred./li liAble to travel long distances on short notice, when required./li liAble to work for extended periods in various locations, when required./li liAble to lift in excess of 50 lbs./li liAble to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE./li liWilling to work over-time when requested./li liWillingness to glove/work live high voltage transmission lines./li liWilling to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position./li /ul pbr/strongPhysical Demands:/strongbr/The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job./p pWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
