Program Coordinator ~ Youth MVP

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Most Valuable Person (MVP) Youth Program Coordinator to lead the daily operations of our vibrant teen afterschool program across multiple properties. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in managing youth programs, building community in the Sacramento region, addressing behavioral and trauma-related challenges, and cultivating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for youth and young adults. This role is based at Mutual Housing at Victory Townhomes and offers the potential for advancement to a Program Coordinator II position with demonstrated experience and success


Key Duties & Responsibilities


Program planning and Management

  • Plan, develop, and implement engaging curriculum, activities, and field trips tailored to the needs of youth and young adults.
  • Ensure all program components prioritize safety, education, and the overall well-being of participants.
  • Maintain an environment that fosters creativity, future readiness, and learning while managing behavior with a trauma-informed approach.

Classroom and Behavior Management

  • Address behavioral issues using a trauma-informed lens, emphasizing conflict resolution and restorative practices.
  • Implement strategies to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.

Community and Partner Engagement

  • Collaborate with schools, families, and community partners to strengthen program impact and visibility.
  • Act as a liaison to ensure open communication between all stakeholders.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements set forth by Mutual Housing

Administration and Reporting

  • Track attendance, program outcomes, and feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Accurately and efficiently enter data into Salesforce or other customer tracking systems.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on customer status based on Mutual Housing documents and privacy standards.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely manner, including program reports, client surveys, client success stories, event summaries, and program photos.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies, safety protocols, and regulations.

Time Management

  • Report to work as scheduled and follows call-in and approval procedures for time off.
  • Organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Participate in training and development programs to improve personal skills/knowledge.
Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proven experience in youth or young adult program coordination, education, or related fields in the Sacramento and Yolo County regions.
  • Strong knowledge of classroom management, conflict resolution, and behavioral strategies.
  • Experience working in/with diverse, low-income communities with cultural competency and sensitivity, and inclusive practices.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and youth development principles.
  • Able to use good judgement and seek advice when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, respect, and rapport with colleagues.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to complete updated Mandated Reporter Training and CPR & First Aid certifications, provided by Mutual Housing.
  • Passes criminal, DOJ, and other background checks.
  • Certified in safe food handling practices, with annual renewal, provided by Mutual Housing.
  • Driver’s license required as position requires driving to various communities in Sacramento and Yolo counties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Russian is a plus but not required.
