JOB SUMMARY:
Perform Mammography and/or Radiographic procedures on patients as ordered by appropriately credentialed healthcare provider. Maintain equipment logs, records and files. Perform light maintenance of equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs radiologic procedures.
2. Takes and processes all requests for tests on a timely basis. Ensures all request forms have proper physician signature, patient history, diagnosis, type of test requested and special instructions.
3. Assists with scheduling of radiologic tests, as needed.
4. Assists patients to and from waiting area, reviews the patients history and prepares all paperwork according to the center's polices and procedures.
5. Prepares the patient for the radiologic test, including an explanation of what to expect, what is expected of them and the procedure.
6. Adheres to all safety standards regarding equipment and center polices and procedures.
7. Reviews films with the radiologist, including previous studies, if necessary.
8 Coordinates inter-office transport of films, to ensure availability of films for interpretation by radiologist, as scheduled.
9. Maintains current and accurate daily and monthly logs; records and files for easy access by applicable staff.
10. Performs light maintenance tasks on processor and other equipment. Performs daily cleaning and monitoring (maintenance records, test frequencies) to ensure all equipment is in good working order. Arranges for repairs, as necessary, with clearance from administrative/designee.
11. Communicates with the appropriate preventative maintenance company, as necessary for equipment/software problems.
12. Orders and maintains required inventory of films and other radiologic supplies.
13. Performs, according to schedule, mandated quality assurance activities, including;
A. Maintaining compliance with department of health safety standards (radiation regulations) and reporting requirements;
B. Maintaining cleanliness of radiology area;
C. Performs quality control tests of equipment;
D. Meeting all personnel monitoring requirements (film badge); and
14. Maintain current knowledge of equipment use and safety.
15. Participates in in-service education programs, as requested.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Currently registered on radiology and mammography in New York State.
2. A Minimum of one (1) year experience as a mammographer.
3. Current BCLS Certification.
