Welder/Fabricator - 2nd Shift - Full-time

pThe Welder Fabricator reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, or the Shredder Operations Supervisor. The Welder Fabricator is responsible for the operations associated with the recognition, set up, and operation of hand and power welding tools while ensuring that all of his/her efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Duties may include the operation of hand welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld, join, or repair metal components. The Welder Fabricator should possess knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles consistently utilized within the trade./p pThis position operates under flexible parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position.  Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits./p pstrongEssential Functions/strong/p ul liEnvironmental and Health Safety (HS) ul liStrictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards./li liProvides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors./li /ul /li liOperational Performance Best Business Practices ul liWeld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions./li liOperate manual or semi automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shield metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding./li liMonitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material./li liProvide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned./li /ul /li liEquipment Maintenance ul liReport all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions requiring maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor./li liMaintain all shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment and replace as needed./li /ul /li /ul pstrongInternal Control Responsibilities/strong/p pSupports the Company’s Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business./p pCommunicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions./p pstrongInterpersonal Contacts/strong/p pDirect contact with Maintenance Supervisor, or Shredder Operations Supervisor, and operations production employees. Face-to-face and radio communication required daily./p pstrongJob Conditions/strong/p pThis position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard.  Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel is not required for this position./p pHandling multiple issues regarding safety and maintenance increases pressure. Work load may be unpredictable and pressure can be substantial during peak times.  Critical deadlines require considerable adaptability. Disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.  Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays./p pstrongPhysical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions/strong/p pAbility to: sit rarely; stand and walk frequently on uneven ground and throughout the yard; shift and adjust up to 100 pounds consistently; crouch or bend at the knees consistently to move or access materials or equipment; stoop or bend at the waist consistently to move materials; reach at arms length and overhead frequently; twist and turn at the neck and trunk continually; climb occasionally when obtaining items; manual dexterity required as Welder Fabricator will handle and grasp parts constantly; arm-hand steadiness required constantly for precision work; communicate by speech and hearing continually. Visual acuity needed for close detail work. Mental dexterity needed as Welder Fabricator will work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness./p pstrongQualifications/strong/p pHigh School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent experience in a similar role preferred. Previous experience in the welding field preferred.
