Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Assignment

Location: New York
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Duration: 13 Weeks (Potential Extension)
Schedule Requirements: Weekends, Holidays & On-Call Required
Radius Rule: 100-Mile Radius Rule Applies

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room (OR) RN experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active New York State RN License in hand
  • Current BLS Certification (Required)
  • ACLS Certification (Preferred)
  • MEDITECH experience required
  • Previous preceptorship, charge nurse, or leadership experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients in the Operating Room setting
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs
  • Maintain a safe and aseptic surgical environment
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Interpret lethal dysrhythmias and respond according to facility protocols
  • Utilize clinical equipment and instrumentation necessary for OR and ASU procedures
  • Prioritize workload and delegate responsibilities appropriately
  • May be required to function as Charge Nurse when needed

  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and practices
  • Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced environments
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of patient safety standards and safe patient handling techniques
  • Ability to identify safety risks and implement appropriate interventions
  • Creative problem-solving and decision-making abilities
On-Call Requirement
  • On-call coverage required
  • Must be able to respond and report to the facility within 30 minutes when called in
