Manufacturing Quality Inspector II - Full-time

pWe are seeking a Quality Inspector in our Philadelphia, PA facility where we develop, produce and process specialized coatings and materials, primarily for the defense market.nbsp; This dynamic role conducts physical inspection of in-coming materials, some in-process amp; final inspection as well as quality document creation amp; review for varied components and materials. The Quality Inspector will interact regularly with technicians and engineers for non-conformance resolution./p pstronguPrimary Duties amp; Responsibilities/u/strong/p ul liProvide technical assistance for understanding quality standards and solutions for manufacturing quality problems/li liEvaluate the quality capability of processes and prove quality maintenance throughout production/li liAssure the quality level of the finished product, purchased materials and components are commensurate with Coherent Aamp;D’s requirements and customer expectations/li liPerform the actual physical operations of inspection, test and SPC required to provide quality control and assurance/li liAppraising the quality plan for inspection and contributing to its continuing effectiveness/li liProvide leadership, technical assistance and training to lower-level Optical Inspectors and other departments/li liPlan / Order packaging material for commercial products/li liPlan and schedule of workload, pull pack slips and sign off on commercial product/li /ul pstronguEducation amp; Experience/u/strong/p ul liHigh School education/li liMinimum of 2 years of related experience in one or more branches of Quality Control, Quality Assurance or Optical Manufacturing/li /ul pstronguSkills/u/strong/p ul liExperience using various inspection tools, such as laser Marker, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, hand tools, height gauges, test plates, calculators, electronic gauges, light sources, interferometers, autocollimators, personal computers and test equipment for various products/li liExperience creating and review quality documents including receiving inspection and test, in-process inspection, final Inspection, final test, first article inspection, Quality records maintenance, Customer Return Evaluation, Material Review support/li liAbility to issue general communications and write inspection instructions that are grammatically correct/li liBasic knowledge of mathematics including geometry and trigonometry/li liStrong time management and prioritization skills/li liSkills in inspection, writing, interpersonal communications, and Statistical Methods necessary to perform the above functions, duties, and responsibilities/li liAdaptability; Customer Focus; Innovation; Planning and Organizing; Problem Solving, Decision Making and Continuous Improvement; Professional and Technical Knowledge and Skills; Reliable and Dependable; Results Oriented; Teamwork and Positive Relationships; Work Standards/Quality/Details/li liAbility to handle small, delicate parts and components/li liAble to clean optical components without causing damage/li /ul pstronguWorking Conditions/u/strong/p ul liJob operates in a professional office environment/li liRoutinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines/li liWork in a cubicle area – must be able to work in environment where employees are on the phone / speaking causing potential distractions throughout the day./li liNoise level – Usually moderate/li /ul pstronguPhysical Requirements/u/strong/p ul liStanding: 2-4 Hours per day/li liLifting: 10-25 lbs./li liPushing/Pulling: 10-25 lbs./li liSitting Up: 8 hours per day./li liVisual acuity: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus/li /ul pstronguSafety Requirements/u/strong/p pAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
