Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

  • ICU setting within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,259 staffed beds) designated as a Magnet facility, teaching hospital, and Level I Trauma Center
  • \n
  • Patient population includes respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
  • \n
  • Unit also serves pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, as well as medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
  • \n
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
  • \n
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • \n
  • Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • No on-call required
  • \n
  • Floating required within service line to other ICU units
  • \n
  • Charting via Epic (experience required)
  • \n
  • Equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
  • \n
  • Monthly parking passes are available through the facility's Public Safety department
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active MO state RN license required; compact license accepted
  • \n
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • \n
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • \n
  • Required clinical skills include: Medical and Surgical ICU care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and Pulmonary Artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, arterial line management, CRRT/acute and chronic renal failure management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV insertion and maintenance, continuous IV sedation, emergency medication administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP assistance, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure management, ETT and NT suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention and isolation/PPE protocols, phlebotomy, and wound/drain/wound vac management

  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • \n
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • \n
  • Candidates who have been permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within this health system as a traveler
  • \n
  • Travelers may work at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • \n

  • Pending IL license submissions are accepted with a note; valid MO state license is required at time of consideration
