Position Overview

Direct Counsel is recruiting a Mid-Level Corporate M&A Associate for the Chicago office of a highly ranked Am Law 100 firm. This is a compelling opportunity to join a nationally recognized Corporate group handling complex mergers and acquisitions for both private and public companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support M&A transactions from inception to close

• Draft and negotiate principal acquisition agreements and related documentation

• Advise clients on legal and business issues related to corporate transactions

• Coordinate with internal and external teams across multiple practice areas

• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior associates and paralegals

Qualifications

• J.D. from a top-tier law school

• 4–6 years of experience in M&A transactions, including lead drafting and direct negotiations

• Big Law experience required

• Admitted to the Illinois Bar

• Strong academic credentials and excellent client service skills

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary range: $260,000 – $390,000, based on experience and qualifications
