Duties: Floating between departments and or local locations within 20 miles is required.

\n Job Summary:
\n Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon. Facilitates a safe, effective and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety.

\n Essential Duties:
\n -Demonstrates ability to problem-solve in relation to the procedure being performed.
\n -Maintain current knowledge of various equipment, procedures and supplies.
\n -Adheres to proper surgical procedures of aseptic technique and safety in the use of instruments and equipment.
\n -Performs instrument counts prior to each procedure and maintains an accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments during the procedure.
\n -Secures and prepares all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention before procedures.
\n -Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR.
\n -Prepares patient skin for surgical treatment.
\n -Position and re-position patient during surgery.
\n -Helps monitor patients during surgery.
\n -Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
\n -Performs scrub functions.
\n -Ensures that specimens are correctly handled and routed to the proper source.
\n -Maintains current knowledge of anatomy/physiology and medications used intraoperatively.
\n -Keeps current with developments in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and publications.
\n -Follows all federal, state and departmental safety procedures.

\n Skills: Required Skills & Experience:
\n -Two (2) years current experience required in large OR.
\n -Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to fast paced environment.

\n Preferred Skills & Experience:
\n -Ortho, ENT and/or vascular experience a plus.
\n -Epic experience preferred, but not required; can train on-site.

\n Education: Required Education:
\n --HS Diploma or GED and one of the following:
\n -Completion of a Surgical Technician training program (requirement verified at interview) or graduation from an accredited school.
\n -Certified Surgical Technician credential from either NBSTSA or NCCT + ten (10) years of experience.
\n Preferred Education:
\n -N/A
\n Required Certifications & Licensure:
\n -BLS certification required and must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
\n Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
\n -Certified Surgical Technicians (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification NCCT.
