Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN to join a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool working night shifts and managing titratable drips.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in a float pool covering Med/Surg, Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and inpatient holding in the Emergency Department across two hospital campuses
  • Patient populations include geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac catheterization, post-MI, and post-CABG patients
  • Stepdown and Tele units with nurse to patient ratios of 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in Med/Surg Tele
  • Night shifts (7pm-7am) with every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • First to float among staff, with unit assignments communicated 2 hours before each shift
  • Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred
  • Specialized procedures include titration of drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
  • CPAP and BiPAP equipment used in Med/Surg and PCU settings
  • Monitor techs support Telemetry; RNs must be able to interpret rhythm strips
  • No on-call requirement
  • Care for a diverse caseload including cardiac, stepdown, orthopedic, and post-procedural patients
  • Charge nurses are available on all units and do not take patient assignments
  • Support from nurse aides in all settings
  • Candidates must be comfortable floating between multiple units and campuses
  • Unit-specific orientation includes one general hospital day and 12-hour shifts in West campus units
  • Solid color professional scrubs required until October, after which navy scrubs must be worn per updated dress code
  • Must work at least 2 of the 3 major holidays during assignment
  • Holiday and weekend shifts are assigned within the overall staff rotation
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this assignment
\n \n Requirements\n
  • Active RN license, State or Compact, in hand at the time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
  • Experience with titration of cardiac and critical care drips required
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with 80% or higher within two attempts before contract confirmation
  • Must provide a copy of a current driver’s license for consideration
  • Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) facility within the past year
