🕒 Scheduling / Shifts

Night: 1900–0730

\n

12-hour shifts

\n

Scheduling managed by leadership (travelers placed where needed, not self-scheduled)

\n

Travelers may be placed into staffing gaps

\n

📅 Requirements

Weekend: Every other weekend (EOW) or as needed

\n

Holidays: Required

\n

Call/Standby: Not required (may have voluntary pickup options)

\n

🔁 Floating Expectations

Required to float to:Meridian Hospital

\n

Nampa Hospital

\n

May also float to other units for:Sitter assignments

Similar acuity patient careeekends as needed, first to float

• Beds: 32 maternal beds + 32 baby/couplet capacity
\n
• Annual Volume: ~350–400 births/month (~4,200–4,800/year)
\n

👩‍⚕️ Staffing & Ratios\n

\n
• RN Ratio Goal:\n
  \n
  • 1 RN : 3 couplets (standard goal)
  \n
  • 1:6 ratio possible depending on acuity/assignment mix
  \n
\n
• High acuity (Magnesium): 1:4 ratio
\n
• Rare exceptions:\n
  \n
  • 4 couplets if discharges or low-acuity mix
  \n
  • Twins may affect assignment balancing
  \n
\n
• Charge RN: No patient assignment (fully free charge)
\n

🧪 Patient Population / Diagnoses\n

• Postpartum mothers (routine + higher risk)

• Magnesium sulfate (pre-eclampsia)
\n
• Pitocin infusions (postpartum protocol)
\n
• C-sections (no major GYN surgical cases beyond tubals)

• Twins / multiple births
\n
• Well newborns only (NICU transfers if higher needs)
