able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the ED.  /div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.  /div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Must provide care as described in the ED Policies and Procedures and TCRH Policies and Procedures./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Graduate from a school of nursing and have current licensure as an RN with the Virginia State Board of Nursing.  He/she must complete orientation period of charge nurse duties.  Should have at least one year Med/Surg experience./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"CPR and ACLS certification required./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Knows and practices good communication theory in clear, direct, concise and understandable written and oral communication.  Is aware of non-verbal communication and makes appropriate use of it./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to understand advanced theory and practice in nursing./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Familiarity with organization and function of each hospital department./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to discern legal implications in nursing./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to motivate personnel and problem-solve effectively./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and other hospital departments./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"strongemResponsibilities:/em/strong/div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Function as a staff or charge nurse./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Supervise and coordinate care in a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in an efficient manner, and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Possess the knowledge to safely apply theory and practice when providing, planning and assigning nursing care./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to problem-solve effectively to provide quality patient care./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Provide excellent customer service including patient education./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to work with all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Performs all nursing functions within the scope of practice in the State of Virginia./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Ability to work with Paragon applications (computer system)./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Possess the knowledge to use PYXIS medication delivery system./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Education – Uses the nursing process to meet patient/family learning needs./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Professionalism – Applies knowledge to practice through participation in performance improvement activities and application of nursing research./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Consistently communicates with co-workers, medical staff, ancillary departments and customers to promote a collaborative and cooperative environment./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Reliability – Ensures completion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at own initiative./div and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent and must carry out universal precautions according to hospital policy./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"May be exposed to irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicable diseases and/or potentially dangerous equipment./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"Work involves mental activity./div div align="justify" /div div align="justify"May be exposed to bad weather when escorting a discharged patient to their /div div align="justify"vehicle./div
