Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal-working dies, cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and machine hand tools. Depending on Ruger campus location, toolmakers may create precision molds to support manufacturing using vertical milling centers, EDM centers, precision grinders, and 3-D printers./ppbQualifications and Skills: /b/pulliProficiency in the operation of manual mills, lathes and grinders./liliProficiency in Geometry, Trigonometry, basic Algebra, fractions and decimals./liliAbility to select and use appropriate cutting tools./liliAbility to read and interpret blueprints./liliAbility to create work-holding fixtures and gauges for manufacturing and assembly./liliExperience with basic machining principles including; tooling types, speeds amp; feeds, threading, surface finish, and tool holding (i.e. collets, chucks)./liliFamiliarity with CAD software.­­/liliAbility to use micrometers, calipers, test indicators, and Cadillac gauge./liliAn understanding of spanhydraulics and pneumatics in fixtures./span/liliDepending on Ruger campus location, a working knowledge of Heat Treat, materials./liliAbility to use Prototrak/advanced conversational controllers-program mill, MasterCam, or CAM software./liliSelf-Motivated to work independently or with associates on the line to find solutions to problems./liliDetail amp; quality oriented./liliCommunicate detailed or important information to others accurately./liliMust be capable of prioritizing and time management while working under pressure with minimal amount of supervision./li/ulp/ppbPhysical Demands:/b/ppAssociates are frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
