p id="isPasted"stronguJOB CLASSIFICATION:/u/strong Hourlynbsp;/ppstronguJOB SUMMARY/u/strong/ppThe strongCERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT/strong works under the direct supervision of the Provider, ADON, and Practice Manager, and in cooperation with other office staff in assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with established standards and protocols of First Choice Primary Care. Promote and support the Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) primary care model. This position is associated with increased quality improvement and higher patient satisfaction associated with their care./ppnbsp;Responsible for routine back-office functions including the maintenance of patient flow, exam room preparation and turnover, bringing patients back to the exam room, taking and documenting of basic medical history and assisting providers as needed. This position will ldquo;floatrdquo; between FCPCrsquo;s locations per staffing needs./ppnbsp;Additional responsibilities include assisting with medical records, clinical compliance with clinical measures, clinical competencies and any other compliance standards required by First Choice Primary Care./ppstronguCertified Medical Assistant Job Duties:/u/strong/pulliPlaces the patient in the exam room ensuring they are as comfortable as possible./liliPerforms EMR intake entry by going over medication lists, allergies, and other pertinent information required and enters the patientrsquo;s EMR record./liliObtain vital signs, secures chief complaint, and enters information in the patientrsquo;s EMR record. nbsp;nbsp;/liliFollows current clinical measures protocols./liliUse Standing Orders to improve efficiency in patient preventative health screenings.nbsp;/liliAssists the Provider with examination and treatment of patient and is always accessible to them./liliPerforms phlebotomy and lab tests as ordered by the Provider in accordance with State and Federal regulations including CLIA. nbsp;/liliMaintain quality, safety, and infection control standards./liliPerforms triage duties according to protocols and Clinic Supervisor./liliEnsure that the exam rooms and all equipment are clean and properly set up before each patient./liliCleans and restocks exam rooms daily./liliEnsures all diagnostic tests ordered have been received and entered to the patientrsquo;s chart via direct electronic transfer or scanning for Provider review./liliCoordinates Provider schedules with the front office to ensure Provider/patient time is being used efficiently./liliCommunicates with the front office staff regarding working patients into the Providers daily schedule./liliPerforms monthly supplies check, communicates with Supervisor supplies and equipment needed./liliChecks all expiration dates and properly disposes of expired medications./liliSchedules outside diagnostic tests for patients as needed, verifying times with patients, pre-certification and transmitting orders. nbsp;Maintain diagnostic scheduling logs./lilistrongemuMay be required to float to other practices as directed by Management/u/em/strong.nbsp;/liliRelieve staff as needed for scheduled and unscheduled breaks./liliPrepares and administers medications as directed by Provider and FCPC protocols./liliEnter data from monitoring and tracking systems such as vaccine and medication refrigerators, in-office testing devices and other quality or safety data./liliAssist patients/Providers in completing various types of medical necessity documentation as needed ensuring all HIPPA/HIE policies and procedures are followed./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpstronguQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS/u/strongstrongunbsp;/u/strong/ppstrongRequired Education/strong: High School Diploma or General Education (GED). nbsp;Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.strongunbsp;/u/strong/ppCertification as medical assistant is preferred through CMS recognized certification organization. Current Basic Life Support/CPR (BLS/CPR) certification/ppstrongExperience/strong: Minimum (2) years medical assistant experience preferred and (1) year minimum Primary Care experience. nbsp;Candidates who have performed an externship with FCPC may be considered.nbsp;/ppstrongSkills:/strong Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. The ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to patients, other employees of FCPC and the public. Ability to educate patients/families and to provide instructions at the patientrsquo;s level of understanding.nbsp;/ppstrongReasoning Ability/strong: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. nbsp;/ppstrongComputer/strong: Previous exposure to electronic patient management systems. Ability to acquire working knowledge of EMR and Scheduling software. Ability to operate Windows 7 Operating System, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. nbsp;/ppstrongMedical Equipment/strong: Ability to use/operate stethoscope, EKG machine, pulse oximeter, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, stretchers, scales, glucose monitor, blood pressure, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice. nbsp;/ppstrongOther Equipment/strong: Ability to use telephone, fax machine, scanner, copier, and other similar equipment typically used in a physician office setting./ppnbsp;/ppstronguTYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS/u/strongstrongunbsp;/u/strong/ppWork is performed in a typical outpatient, medical setting. nbsp;Requires manual dexterity to input patient data into electronic medical record. nbsp; Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. nbsp;Requires occasional overtime to complete tasks for the day. nbsp;Requires working with patients of various ages and medical conditions which may include pulling, kneeling, lifting and assisting patients who are physically handicapped at various stages.nbsp;/ppPosition requires individuals to be dressed in uniform 100% of the time; 75% of the time individuals will be required to wear protective equipment including rubber gloves, face mask, goggles and/or surgical gown.nbsp;/ppnbsp;stronguINFECTIOUS DISEASE EXPOSURE LEVEL:/u/strong 1/ppPosition will require frequent exposure to blood and body fluids. Appropriate protective equipment will be provided.nbsp;/ppExposure to hazardous materials will be frequent.
