They may provide 1:1 instruction utilizing the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) based upon an individualized intervention plan designed by the treatment team for children diagnosed with autism, intellectual disabilities, and emotional and behavioral disorders. They support the improvement of patientrsquo;s overall physical, psychological, spiritual, and social well-being through therapeutic interactions guided by the patientsrsquo; person-centered treatment plans. They assist patients in achieving desired outcomes for an overall healthier quality of life.br / nbsp;/p pnbsp;/p pstrongEssential Duties:/strong/p ul listrongDay Shift opening: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m./strong/li listrongWorks 12 hour rotating shifts. Includes every other weekend./strong/li liAssesses positive, negative, and/or potentially dangerous mood and behavior change and takes steps to modify the patient#39;s actions or alert medical professionals./li liUses interpersonal skills and training about de-escalation to diffuse challenging situations./li liServes as a role model for the patients in all areas./li liMaintains strict confidentiality of patientnbsp;information./li liEffectively communicates to the nursing team and team lead regarding the patient./li liTeaches in the areas of communication, activities of daily living, behavior, social skills, and academics in both 1:1 and group settings to reach goals developed by SBA./li liCommunicates with the SBA daily for any concerns, questions, or suggestions./li liTeaches the clients the type of skills required based on their individual plan./li liAssists with new admissions./li liHelps with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, grooming, and cleaning rooms./li liCharts on assigned patients according to policy and procedure. Reports to the unit nurse any significant information regarding the shift and activities./li liPlans and executes activities with assigned children and adolescents during non-nbsp;scheduled times and coordinates activities with Recreation Therapy staff./li liMaintains annual trainings (includes infection control and Safe Crisis Management) and follows the infection control policies by maintaining annual TB skin test.nbsp;/li liMaintains awareness of the policies related to the prevention and transmission of infection control (hand washing) and the utilization of personal protective equipment.nbsp;/li liModels the mission and values of RiverValley Behavioral Health./li liOther duties as assigned./li /ul h4Qualifications/h4brpstrongEducation and Experience:/strong/p ul liHigh School Diploma/GED/li liValid driver#39;s license, preferred./li liOne (1) year of direct care experience working at similar facility preferred./li liPrefer training in and experience with applied behavior analysis services and experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, and emotional and behavioral disorders.nbsp;/li /ul pstrongKnowledge and Skills:/strong/p ul liUnderstand the objectives for each child according to the ABLLS-R curriculum, and individualized behavior intervention plans.nbsp;/li liComprehend and utilize basic ABA terminology./li /ul
