A teacher's aide's job is to assist a teacher and reinforce the instruction taught in the classroom to students.br br strongREPORTS TO:/strongnbsp;Principalbr br strongJOB DESCRIPTION -nbsp;/strongFollowing are examples of the tasks required for a teacher assistant: ulliDiscuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts./li liPrepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations./li liPresent subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods./li liTutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers./li liSupervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips./li liConduct demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handicrafts./li liDistribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students./li liDistribute tests and homework assignments, and collect them when they are completed./li liEnforce administration policies and rules governing students./li liGrade homework and tests, and compute and record results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices./li liInstruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage./li liObserve students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress./li liOrganize and label materials, and display students’ work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills./li liOrganize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development./li liPlan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs./li liProvide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities./li liTake class attendance, and maintain attendance records./li liAssist in bus loading and unloading./li liAssist librarians in school libraries./li liCollect money from students for school-related projects./li liLaminate teaching materials to increase their durability under repeated use./li liMaintain computers in classrooms and laboratories, and assist students with hardware and software use./li liMonitor classroom viewing of live or recorded courses transmitted by communication satellites./li liOperate and maintain audiovisual equipment./li liProvide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms./li liRequisition and stock teaching materials and supplies./li liType, file, and duplicate materials./li liUse computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations./li /ul nbsp;br strongEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:/strong ulliMinimum GED or a high school diploma and some on-the-job training./li liPrefernbsp;an associate's degree or bachelor's degree in education or a related field./li liMust be at least 21 years of age./li liJob training is typically done by the employer who helps a new teacher's aide understand the rules and operations of the workplace./li liTeacher's aides must know the appropriate responses when dealing with children and how to properly show educational materials to the classroom./li liAdditionally, learning to follow the instructions of a teacher is extremely important./li /ul br strongPHYSICAL ABILITIES:/strong ulliAbility to see at normal distance.
