pPosition Description:/p
pWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our Culture and Justice team as a Youth Victim Advocate. In this role, you will provide crucial support and advocacy for youth who have experienced trauma, abuse, or violence. This entry-level position is located on the island of Unalaska and requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to serving the community. This is a grant funded part-time position, with an approved period of performance until December 31, 2025. There is potential for transition to a related grant, supporting ongoing related programs and development initiatives, contingent upon funding approval./p

pJob Duties and Responsibilities:/p

pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Direct Support: /spanOffer emotional support and crisis intervention to youth who have experienced trauma or victimization./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Advocacy: /spanServe as a voice for youth in navigating legal, medical, and social service systems to ensure their needs are met and their rights are being protected./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Case Management: /spanAssist in developing and implementing individualized plans to address the needs of each youth, including coordinating services such as counseling, medical care, and legal assistance./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Education and Outreach: /spanConduct community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about youth victimization and available resources./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Collaboration: /spanWork collaboratively with other professionals, including law enforcement, social workers, healthcare providers, and educators, to provide comprehensive support to youth and their families./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Documentation: /spanMaintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, services provided, and progress made toward goals./p
pspan style="font-weight: bold;"Crisis Response: /spanBe available for on-call support and respond promptly to crises as they arise. span style="font-weight: bold;"Continuous Learning: /spanStay informed about best practices in victim advocacy, trauma-informed care, and relevant laws and regulations through training and professional development opportunities./p

pspan style="font-size: 16px;"Two years of college education preferred and a minimum of three years related work experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of treatment and recovery models in use with Alaska Native people, including traditional health/healing practices and culture-based services activities. Knowledge of risk behavior and issues. Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian cultures and local community resources./span/p
