American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week travel contract with rotating night/evening shifts, requiring a MD or Compact RN license, prior charge experience, and comfort floating to sister facilities.

- General Emergency Department setting treating combined adult and pediatric populations across all age ranges (infant to geriatric) \n
- STEMI and Stroke Certified facility with cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities \n
- Patient diagnoses vary across all systems, including complex and multi-system presentations in a fast-paced environment \n
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with the possibility of up to 1:5 for lower acuity patients \n
- Rotating night and evening shifts; 3x12 or 4x12 schedules accepted (shift times: 19:00–07:30 or 15:00–03:30); primary need is for night shift \n
- Every other weekend required \n
- Holidays required as they fall per the schedule \n
- Floating required within specialty and to sister ED facilities (Cambridge, Chestertown, Queenstown) as needed; travelers are first to float \n
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required \n
- Charting via Epic (required) \n
- \n
- Active MD state or Compact RN license required \n
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required \n
- Previous charge nurse experience required \n
- Community hospital experience required \n
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI (AHA required for BLS/ACLS/PALS; CPI online version must be 'Calm Every Storm') \n
- Preferred certifications: NRP and TNCC \n
- Epic EMR experience required \n
- Proficiency in a broad range of ED skills including triage, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, procedural sedation, intubation, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG \n
- Experience managing psychiatric presentations (acute psychosis, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, managing violent behavior, drug overdose) \n
- Experience with pediatric patients and pediatric-specific conditions preferred \n
- Must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be eligible (locals within 50 miles are not accepted) \n

- CPI certification may be completed during onboarding if not already held \n
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days; requests for more than 4 consecutive days off will require an additional week added to the end of the contract \n
- One major winter holiday off may be permitted per standard unit policy \n
- Former travelers who have previously worked within this health system must have been away for at least 6 months before returning \n
- Former permanent staff of this health system must have separated at least 12 months prior to returning as a traveler \n
- Most positions allow one contract and one extension, after which a 6-month break is required before returning to the same facility/unit \n
- Travelers are required to complete lab work within 72 hours of signing their contract \n
- All compliance documents must be submitted at least 5 days prior to the start date \n
