Educational Assistant (School Readiness) - 24.5 hrs/wk - Part-time

pThis position will be at Bay View Elementary and the Proctor Early Childhood Center and is open to internal and external candidates./p pnbsp;/p pTitle: Educational Assistantnbsp;/p pSalary Range: Step 16, Local 66 Contract/p pTerm: 24.5 hours/week ndash; 182 daysnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p pstrongDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/strongnbsp;/p ul liMay work with the student(s) for extended periods of time in a room away from staff and students./li liSupervise student activities on the playground, monitor behavior, and enforce playground rules./li liAbility to understand and follow written and verbal behavior management plans./li liMust be able to track student progress as directed by the instructor./li liMay need to work with the individual student(s) with special needs while at the same time working with any and all students in this program./li liMonitor students in the lunchroom as needed, and enforce lunchroom rules/li liAttend to medical and personal needs of students not requiring attention by licensed personnel including toileting of students./li liAssist office personnel/li liPerform clerical duties as assigned ndash; including MA billing/li liAssist teachers as directed by the building principal/li liOther duties as assigned by supervisornbsp;/li /ul pstrongQUALIFICATIONS /strong/p pstrongemnbsp;/em/strong/p pGeneral Expectationsnbsp;/p ul liAbility to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community/li liAbility to independently supervise students/li liComputer proficiency/li liMust be able to commute between buildings/li liMust have a valid MN Driverrsquo;s License and have a vehicle to travel/li listrongMust be ldquo;highly qualifiedrdquo; (2-year postsecondary certification, Paraprofessional Portfolio or must have passed the Paraprofessional Test)/strong/li liPossess a high standard of work ethic/li liGood sense of humornbsp;/li /ul pPhysical Requirements/p pnbsp;/p pWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and, simultaneously, talk and hear using a mobile communication device (i.e., walkie-talkie, cell phone)./p ul liWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, walk, bend, and squat./li liAbility to sit on the floor and move rapidly to a standing position and run quickly to redirect students.
