pUnder the direction of the Building Principal the substitute secretary provides general clerical support in a school office or department./p
pnbsp;/p
pstronguEssential Job Duties:/u/strong/p
ul
liPerforms a variety of clerical tasks as assigned by the building administrators./li
liAnswer phones and greet students, parents, staff, and the general public positively and professionally./li
liPerform data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, and database functions as requested./li
liPrepare and process various district documents to meet district, state, and/or federal regulations./li
liWork with the student attendance program; notify parents by telephone when students are absent from school./li
liOperate a variety of office equipment./li
liSort and distribute mail (internal and external)/li
liMaintains a high level of confidentiality./li

pstronguMinimum Qualifications:/u/strong/p
ul
liHigh school diploma or equivalent./li
liSix months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred./li
liValid Washington State driverrsquo;s license or evidence of mobility./li
liSuccessful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance./li
liI-9 for verification of identity and employment eligibility for work in the United State/li

pstronguPreferred Qualifications:/u/strong/p

liComputer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Google Suite preferred./li
liPossess excellent skills in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and written/oral communication./li
liDemonstrated record-keeping skills, working accurately with figures, and using good organizational systems./li
liAbility to use sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and community members./li
liFlexibility to adjust work pace to meet the demands of changing workload./li
liDemonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment, make independent decisions, and take appropriate action while following established procedures and guidelines./li
liExhibit a professional attitude at all times and a willingness to work cooperatively with students, staff, co-workers, management, and the public./li
liDemonstrated ability to handle confidential information./li

pDuties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from the school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate./p

pThe employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to studentsrsquo; physical or sanitation/hygiene needs. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions./p
