h2Substitute Custodian/h2 pPart-time, Non-union position/p pnbsp;/p h3POSITION SUMMARY/h3 pThe individual selected for this position will be responsible for general housekeeping and minor maintenance of assigned buildings. Will work at multiple locations in the absence of full-time staff. Schedule is based on need. Potentially 20+ hours per week. Substitute custodian hours are generally 2:30-11:00 pm. Reports directly to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodians./p pnbsp;/p h3QUALIFICATIONS/h3 ul liHigh school graduate or equivalent./li liMust have a valid Michigan driverrsquo;s license, in good standing./li liMust be physically able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, work in high places, ability to move heavy items and lift up to fifty (50) pounds./li liExperience in operating high-speed floor polishers, industrial vacuums and carpet shampooing equipment./li /ul h3ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/h3 ol liMaintain assigned building area in a clean, neat and sanitary condition./li liAdapt work schedule around students, staff and the public./li liPerform minor maintenance and other tasks as assigned./li liFollow direction in setting up rooms, as defined for function./li liAssist groups and visitors using the building, as necessary. Understanding of who is in buildings and what their needs are./li liThorough cleaning assigned area on a daily basis to include, but not limited to, dusting all surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows and emptying waste receptacles./li liTake extra time in cleaning restrooms and ensuring that everything is sanitized./li liUse good judgment in protecting equipment, facilities and keeping building safe./li liCleaning and maintaining custodial equipment./li liNeat and clean in appearance and properly attired./li liAdapt to a flexible working schedule and act as a substitute custodian for all RESA facilities./li liEffectively communicate with co-workers and the general public in a professional manner./li liMust be self-motivated and able to work independently./li liExercise sound judgment in making emergency decisions that are in the best interest of the RESA./li liWorking knowledge of the care and maintenance of carpeting, terrazzo and tile flooring./li /ol ol start="16" liMust be knowledgeable of chemicals and cleaning products.
