pstrongPosition Summary:/strong/p
pPerforms routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms.nbsp;Prepares patient for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operatesnbsp;andcaresnbsp;for the equipment being used. Develops/processes films when needed. Adheres tonbsp;established radiology ldquo;standards of carerdquo;. Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumesnbsp;responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to hospital wide customer servicenbsp;programs. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance.Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care./p
pstrongEssential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:/strong/p
p1. Understands and adheres to thenbsp;Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors/p
p2. Performs all other related duties as assigned/p
p3. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing differentnbsp;and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on imagesnbsp;and required body part questionnaires/p
p4. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces goodnbsp;technical images/p
p5. Assist physicians during procedures as necessary/p
p6. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies/p
p7. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise innbsp;the department. Will be needed to work on call, holidays, overtime and / or day,nbsp;evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage fornbsp;the department/p
p8. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports allnbsp;malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor./p
p9. Processes CDrsquo;s, or print pictures if needed/p
p10. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/nbsp;images, documents information on patientsrsquo; request, Meditech or hospital riss systemnbsp;and PACrsquo;s digital x-ray system/p
p11. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors/p
p12. Shows radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician and documentsnbsp;communication if necessary/p
p13. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor/p
p14. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding thenbsp;hospitalrsquo;s behavioral standards./p
p15. Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding thenbsp;examination that is ordered./p
p16. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical andnbsp;psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent,adultsnbsp;and geriatric groups/p
p17. Performs all other related duties as assigned/p
p18. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital/p
pstrongEducationamp; Experience Requirements:/strong/p
ul
liCompletion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate.nbsp;(ARDMS) eligibility after 1 year from graduation and 1000 clinical hours) fornbsp;students./li
liARDMS required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019 or ARRT(s) or RT (VS)nbsp;experience preferred./li
liMust meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification./li
liBLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or mustnbsp;be completed with 90 days of hire./li

liMust be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in the department./li
liFrequently move and position patients for exams/li
liMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardousnbsp;chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospitalrsquo;s SDS (Safety Datanbsp;Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospitalrsquo;s Intranet site (Employeenbsp;Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospitalnbsp;switchboard, saved on a disc./li
