Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results.br / /ppspan bESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:/b /span /ppispanTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. /span/i/pp/pulliAccurately gross an average of 12 cases (14 Containers) per hour. 91 cases (109 containers) per 7.6 hour shift. Load and operate the Sakura V.I.P. machines when needed/liliGross submitted tissues per SOP and related protocols with high level of quality/liliProperly identify, orient, ink, and trim submitted tissues./liliProduce accurate and legible grossing notes with code description that provide the Pathologist with a clear understanding of the sections taken./liliCommunicate with and respond to Pathologists, transcription, and LabC email communications/liliIdentify problem and special handling cases./liliGross tissue for specific re-gross requests when requested in a timely manner/liliCalibrate and run Quality Control on the machines and assist with daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of the machines./liliExercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results./liliReport any technical/QC problems to their lead tech or supervisor./liliCross-train and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab./liliReads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP#39;s), including safety and quality procedures.  Maintains clean and organized work area.  Restocks supplies as needed./liliParticipates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation./liliConsult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.  /liliApplies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks./liliMay be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned./liliWe share a collaborative obligation to ensure that we conduct ourselves in the utmost ethical manner and that we hold each other accountable to the values and standards of the organization.  Every employee has the responsibility to ask questions, seek guidance, and report concerns and/or violations of company policy or ethical standards.
