pstrongSummary: /strongTo assist in preparing, cooking, and serving food in school cafeteria(s) in order to serve students and staff attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth./p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongQualifications/Education:/strong/p ul liHigh school diploma or equivalent/li liA proficiency in the handling of kitchen equipment and preparation of large quantities of food/li liBasic communication and computer skills/li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongSupervisory Responsibilities: /strongNone/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongEssential Functions:/strong/p ul liPrepares food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes, and determines if the finished product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served/li liHelps with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils/li liMaintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen/li liMaintains high standards of food quality and appearance. Utilizes cooking methods to preserve nutrient content/li liUtilizes work simplification techniques for effective use of time; completes work assignments in a timely manner/li liOperates all equipment according to manufacturer's directions with particular emphasis given to safety guidelines/li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongGeneral Responsibilities:/strong/p ul liMaintains high standards of personal hygiene. Follows hand washing protocol. Practices standards of dress, including shirts with sleeves, closed toe shoes, hair restraint, wearing an apron, and single use gloves when handling food/li liAttends job related training classes and workshops. Applies knowledge and/or skills obtained in performing job/li liSelf-administers basic kitchen first aid.; immediately reports all accidents/li liPerforms all other duties as assigned/li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongPhysical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:/strong/p ul liWork with frequent interruptions/li liMaintain emotional control under stress/li liFrequent standing, stooping bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling/li liFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds/li liAbility to work in the presence of loud background noise/li liAbility to adapt to changes in room temperature/li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongTerms of Employment: /strongThe cook will be issued an ldquo;employment-at-willrdquo; work agreement with the terms and conditions stated therein.
