The Preschool Assistant is responsible for the duties described below:/p pnbsp;/p pstronguPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:/u/strong/p pUnder the direction of the Preschool Program Lead Caregiver:/p ol liProvides childcare support services in a preschool classroom setting./li liCarries out educational and recreational activities./li liPerforms attendance and other record keeping./li liMaintains discipline and brings behavior and/or discipline concerns to the Preschool Program Lead Caregiver./li liCleans up the facility and playground during operational hours as necessary./li liOversees outdoor recess/activities./li liAdministers First Aid and completes necessary District and LARA incident report forms./li liMaintains positive public relations with children, parents, staff, administration and community members./li liMaintains confidentiality with regard to student and family records and information./li liFollows and adheres to established safety standards./li liParticipates in staff development activities as offered and/or required./li liOther duties as assigned./li /ol pstronguKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:/u/strong/p ol liHigh school graduate (18+ years of age) with prior experience working/interacting with children./li liSome Early Childhood or Child Development college coursework highly preferred./li liAbility to provide safe and stimulating environment for large groups of children./li liWilling to work out-of-doors in all types of weather./li liAbility to bend, twist, run and sit on the floor while performing daily tasks./li liAbility to lift up to 40 lbs. while walking short distances./li liAbility to positively interact and communicate children, parents, colleagues, and administrative staff./li liAble to comprehend, process, and apply information, instructions and directives./li liAbility to speak, comprehend, write and read the English language./li liPossess current adult, infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or willing to attain./li liA Tuberculosis Test Report showing evidence that staff member is free from communicable tuberculosis and is verified within 1 year before employment./li liMust complete 16.0 clock hours of professional development training per calendar year (January 1 through December 31). First aid and CPR training can count for up to 2.0 of the PD hours./li /ol
