Bus Driver

pstrongREPORTS TO:/strongnbsp;nbsp;uTransportation Supervisor/u/p pnbsp;/p pstronguESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/u/strongstrong:/strong/p ul liDrives school bus or transportation vehicle over assigned route in accordance with time schedule./li liBoards and discharges student passengers in a safe and orderly manner./li liTransports students, staff, and chaperones on field trips, athletic activities, and other special trips./li liEnforces District policies and procedures related to transportation and maintains discipline on buses./li liPrepares student disciplinenbsp;reports as needed./li liPrepares daily reports of mileage, time, and student loads./li liMaintains bus cleanliness on a daily basis, including washing, as needed./li liPerforms minor bus maintenance checks and reports maintenance needs./li liRenders first aid or emergency assistance as needed./li liRefers when busesnbsp;need gas and oil and checks tires, battery, and belts./li liMaintains good order among students on buses, following District policies regarding discipline of children and contact with parents and other citizens./li liInstructs students and others on proper bus behavior and emergency procedures./li liDuring times buses are not in use, may be assigned to general maintenance and cleanup activities./li liEnsures compliance with applicable provisions of state motor vehicle code and education code, as related to bus driving and transporting students./li /ul pemOnly minimum duties are listed. Other functions may be required as given or assigned./em/p pnbsp;/p pstronguDESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/u/strongstrong:/strong/p ul liWork history demonstrating dependability and reliability; good driving record; high school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of training and experience likely to provide the desired knowledge and abilities./li liPossession or in the process of receiving a valid Montana commercial driverrsquo;s license, (w/school bus, passenger, air breaks) accompanied by satisfactory medical examination report./li liHolds valid basic First Aid certificate./li liHolds valid TR-35 Form./li liKnowledge of safe driving practices./li liKnowledge of geography of the School District and other districts served./li liOperate school bus, exercising good judgment and extreme caution./li liDrive school bus safely over variety of normal and hazardous road conditions./li liMaintain order among students on a bus./li liLearn designated bus route, bus stops, and District traffic hazards./li liMake route reports./li liKeep simple records./li liUnderstand and carry out oral and written instructions./li liEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff members./li liMaintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work./li liAbility to handle stressful situations./li liAbility to maintain confidentiality of student matters./li /ul
