Incumbents in this classification may support students to access the learning environment by assisting with mobility limitations and supporting certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction of assigned student(s).brbrul style="margin-bottom: 3.0pt;"liProvide assistance, support, and implementation of the healthcare plan and/or IEP plan for care for assigned students, including enteral feedings, catheterizations, site/wound care, monitoring bodily functions and other delegated nursing care duties as assigned.liPerform general medical assistance and routine first aid and CPR, according to established procedures as needed; administer medication according to physician instructions or established procedures; respond to students with seizures or other medical conditions needing monitoring, specialized response protocols or instructed interventions for their participation in the school dayliAssist with the coordination of administering medications to students during the school day according to district policy and procedures.liRecognize and support student’s special medical or physical needs; notify school nurse or other assigned administrator and keep assigned classroom teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned student(s).liPrepare and maintain a variety of manual and electronic health-related records and reports such as confidential student health records.liSupport and assist students in focusing on work and completing classroom assignments; assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures; assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance; confer with teachers assist students with meeting individual education goals and objectives; report progress regarding student performance and behavior. Work collaboratively with district nurse or other assignment administrator and classroom teacher.liObserve and support behavior of students in the classroom and physical education courses according to approved procedures; monitor students during outdoor, lunch/cafeteria, library, callouts, and recess activities as directed; accompany students on field trips, community-based activities, and to/from campus bus loading zone; monitor and report progress regarding student performance and behavior.liAssist students with performing and developing independent living and self-help skills; assist with eating and feeding activities, manners, grooming and personal hygiene; assist students with toileting activities, feminine hygiene care and change diapers or soiled clothing as needed; lift students in and out of wheelchairs, lifts, stands, etc.; position or re-position students as needed, including placing them in therapeutic equipment.
