The goal with the Utility Server position is to meet the needs of the guests and the restaurant by reinforcing a culture of teamwork and collaboration. The Utility Server role is really four roles in one. The four roles are:
-Server
-Host
-Bartender
-Runner
Utility Servers will be scheduled one specific role per shift. However, teamwork will be the focus of each shift and so you should be prepared to step in and help with any of Utility Server roles, at any time, regardless of how you were scheduled that day. As a Utility Server you will be expected to know all the individual roles and be able to perform each on any given day.
While the goal is to rotate everyone through all of the Utility roles, the specific role you are scheduled on a given shift depends on many factors. Some factors include:
-Ability
-Availability
-Needs of the restaurant on that day
