CNC MACHINIST PROGRAMMER
Position:
Imperial Machine & Tool Co. (“Imperial) is currently looking for talented and experienced CNC Machinist Programmers who have experience creating multi-axis CNC programs using CAD/CAM software and setting up and operating CNC machine tools in a busy production environment. Candidates should have the ability to read and understand 2d blueprints, create and manipulate 3d models, understand GD&T and be comfortable with standard inspection methods and measuring tools. The programming role is considered part of a front-end engineering function and is focused on creating the programs, tool lists, and inspection plans for new jobs and optimizing those aspects of legacy jobs. The candidate will collaborate with setup/operator personnel on the shop floor to successfully get these new parts through first piece inspection.
The position is Full Time with a work schedule of Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with opportunities for overtime as needed. Imperial prefers professional and career-minded candidates that are willing to learn and advance within the company. The job requires the candidate to be onsite >90% of the time.
Job Requirements (CNC Machinist Programmer):
Expert proficiency in all-axis programming (3rd, 4th, 5th) of a CNC Milling Machine
Complete knowledge and experience operating a CNC Milling Machine
Prior experience working with complex parts and designs
Keen eye for optimizing programs to decrease cycle time and improve tool life
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Ability to create fixtures, part-holding, and machining processes from customer-supplied blueprints and models to program machine & make parts according to specification
Ability to create in-process inspection plans to ensure best-in-class quality
Understanding of basic inspection hand tools
Familiarity with manufacturing safety procedures & practices
Flexibility in working overtime as required
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Minimum of 3 years of independent programming experience, with Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Machining apprentice program a strong plus.
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining production accuracy
Work independently while maintaining a clean and safe work area
Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Understanding of Mastercam & Virtual Gibbs software and CNC Codes
