Tax Director Detroit, MI
$50,000 sign-on bonus if you commit to 1 year!
Salary :$245,000 starting and negotiable
The Opportunity
Were looking for a strategic, forward-thinking Tax Director to lead and grow our tax team. This is a key leadership position for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical expertise, client advisory, and operational excellence. This is a full-time remote role, and the right person will be included in decision-making as part of the leadership team.
What Youll Do
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of tax professionals
Oversee complex tax compliance and planning engagements for businesses and individuals
Collaborate with legal and accounting / Fractional CFO counterparts to deliver holistic client solutions
Manage and grow client relationships through proactive tax strategy and advisory
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws with a sharp eye for planning opportunities
Develop and implement scalable workflows and technology integrations (we use Ignition, Karbon, and more)
Stay ahead of tax law changes and advise both clients and internal teams accordingly
What Were Looking For
- CPA or EA required; JD or MST a plus
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally in a public accounting or multidisciplinary environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication you can explain complex tax concepts in plain English
- Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing, tech-forward, collaborative environment
- Someone who has worked extensively with a workflow / practice management tool like Karbon
