Job Description
Growing, world class nationally recognized, niche Commercial FoodService Equipment Manufacturer is looking for a dependable self-starter and a strong leader to join our team as a Shop Foreman in our stainless steel fabrication and assembly plant. This position will continuously improve the safety and productivity of the work environment. It is expected that an individual in this position have a solid understanding of continuous improvement and corrective action methods. This position will report to our Director of Manufacturing and will assist in the daily management of shop floor employees
Typical Duties:
· Assist with supervision of shop floor manufacturing operations for building stainless steel equipment.
· Work with Director of Manufacturing on employee issues and concerns.
· Evaluate, develop, discipline, and communicate continuously with shop workers.
· Work with purchasing to insure raw material inventory levels are maintained, and all paperwork is completed on time and accurately.
· Foster a safe work environment by promoting, supporting, and enforcing safe work practices.
· Address facilities and maintenance programs on all shop equipment.
· Lead and participate in department continuous improvement projects.
Experience and Skills Must Include:
· Ability to interview, qualify, select, hire, and train quality employees
· Ability to manage a growing team, identifying required timing for staff additions
· Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to plan, lay-out, fabricate, and assemble sheet metal assemblies using people, hand-tools, power tools, and machines.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and or products specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, and assembly of sheet metal products.
· A solid understanding of material gauges and types of sheet metal, such as galvanized, stainless steel, copper, steel, aluminum, plastic and glass according to product specifications.
· A high knowledge, and the ability to apply shop mathematics to create concepts for shop fixtures, jigs, and templates as needed to produce quality products and increase throughput.
· A complete understanding of fabricating machines such as CNC laser, brakes presses & saws, and be able to use hand tools.
· A thorough understanding of bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, used to assemble products.
· A thorough understanding of welding competency, quality control and finishing processes
· Skillful in problem solving part inconsistencies by inspecting components and assemblies using drawings and measuring tools.
Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience supervising and leading a 20 employee (or larger) team in a manufacturing environment, with prior years of experience working hands-on fabricating and building sheet metal assemblies. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
