Employees in this job class study specifications, fasten and install parts as well as repair defective containers by replacing damaged parts. Work involves using a variety of tools, with attention to knowing and using safe work practices.  strongTYPICAL DUTIES:/strong1. *Measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns and templates.2. *Inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.3. *Build crates around objects, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nailer.4. Fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork on vehicle sides and beds.5. *Applies preservative to prolong wood life.6. *Packs, seals, bands, and applies markings to crates and containers7. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.* Denotes Essential Job Function   strongMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:/strong· 0 to 1 year of work experience, preferably in construction, carpentry or maintenance;· Ability to follow instructions on labels for proper and safe use of tools and equipment;· Fluency in the use of ruler, pencil, hand and power tools, including saws, as well as hammer, nailing machine, or power stapler;· Basic mathematical ability, ability to read and use measurements;· Ability to work safely;· Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities;· Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common sense skills.  pstrongEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:/strong /p pNot Applicable/p p /p pstrongCERTIFICATES REQUIRED: /strong /p pThe following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:/p pstrong /strong /p p /p pstrongPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: /strong /p pstrong /strongEmployees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:/p • Maneuvering to and around equipment• Standing and walking• Bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching• Lifting of boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds• Climbing ladders or step stools p /p p /p pstrongWORK ENVIRONMENT: /strong/p pWork is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility.
