Neighborhood Assistant, PT (Livingston County Residents Only)

h2About the Department/h2pThis position involves responsibility for performing various activities to meet the needs of residents in the Nursing Home including: meal service, cleaning, laundry duties and resident support services as well as participates in improving quality of care/service.  Employees in this class assist in performing a variety of simple repetitive tasks.  An incumbent must exhibit patience and tact in dealing with the aged, many of whom are unable to care for themselves.  The work is performed according to established procedures and performed under the direction or specific instructions of a higher level supervisor.  Does related work as required.  /ph2Position Duties/h2pulliSets and clears tables;/liliPrepares specific food items following appropriate standards for food preparation, handling and service;/liliServes residents’ meals ensuring the temperature, portion of food and timeliness of service;/liliPerforms a variety of cleaning activities including dusting, washing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, carpet shampooing, floor maintenance and window cleaning;/liliCleans and polishes furniture and building hardware;/liliEmpties waste containers, transports soiled linen from households, maintains clean and organized bathrooms, laundry rooms and utility rooms;/liliCollects and disposes of recyclables, garbage and trash;/liliMay launder facility owned linens;/liliMay wash, dry, fold, and iron clothing and perform minor clothing repairs and distribute laundry;/liliChanges bed linens and makes beds;/liliPerforms simple record keeping;/liliResponds to procedures for alarms and alerts including notifying appropriate staff;/liliInforms supervisor of resident needs or concerns;/liliTransports residents within and outside of the facility; and/liliPerforms a variety of related duties as required./li/ulstronguFULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS/u/strongu: /uWorking knowledge of meal preparation, handling and service; working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to get along well with others, especially the aged and infirm; ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions; ability to read labels and instructions relative to the safe use of food preparation, handling and service; ability to operate a variety of equipment relative to cleaning activities including vacuums, carpet cleaners, automated identification label machine and automatic washer and dryer; ability to maintain simple records; patience; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.br /ph2Minimum Qualifications/h2pNone.brbrNeighborhood Assistant - nbsp;L in County Servicebrbr/p
