pSupervise students assigned to Alternative Educational Placement for disciplinary reasons while providing behavioral and academic support. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment./p

pstrongQUALIFICATIONS:/strong/p
puMinimum Education/Certification:/u/p
pHigh School Diploma strong/strong meet the Districtrsquo;s formal academic assessment required by Every Student Succeeds Actnbsp;/p
pAssociates (or higher) degree strongOR/strong 48 college credit hours/p
pValid Texas Educational Aide Certificate/p
pMeet the rigorous standard of quality required by the district/p
pnbsp;/p
puSpecial Knowledge/Skills:/u/p
pWork with students who have difficulty with academics, behavior, and social skills/p
pPossess sufficient education to have basic skills in reading, writing and math/p
pFollow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgment/p
pEffective verbal and written communication skills with students, parents and school personnel/p
pCertified in Handle with Care (training provided by District)/p
pMaintain professional demeanor under stress/p
pnbsp;/p
puWork Conditions/u:/p
pstrongTools/Equipment Used:/strong Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals/p
pstrongPosture: S/strongitting, standing, kneeling, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting/p
pstrongMotion: /strongFull range of motion- walking, mild running including student restraint/p
pstrongLifting: /strongLifting and carrying up to 75 pounds including student restraint/p
pstrongEnvironment: /strongAbility to respond to tasks and/or behaviors quickly; acute or corrected vision and hearing/p
pstrongRegular attendance is an essential function/strong/p

puMinimum Experience/u:/p
pTwo yearsrsquo; experience working with secondary school age students and parents- preferred. This experience may be work in church-related school, day camps, youth groups, and private schools, or similar experiences./p

pstrongMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:/strong/p

liSupervise students assigned to AEP at all times./li
liWork closely with classroom teacher(s) in the areas of English /Language Arts; Mathematics; Science; History; and Self-discipline to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom./li
liParticipate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events when required./li
liProvide on-going academic and behavioral support to students./li
liProvide individual supervision/assistance in assuring that school work sent from the campus is completed and returned to the appropriate teacher./li
liReinforce appropriate school behaviors which will help the student to be successful./li
liCommunicate frequently with principal, assistant principal, and/or teacher regarding problems and progress of students who are assigned to AEP. Particular attention will be paid to repeat offenders./li
liMaintain a written log of students assigned to AEP which will include but not be limited to reason for assignment to AEP and length of time assigned./li
liEnsure student safety of those assigned to Short Term AEP./li
liIntervene physically using approved Handle with Care techniques when necessary to prevent student injury to self or others./li
liManage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP)./li
liFacilitate relationships between co-workers, supervisors, students and parents./li
liDistribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy./li
liMaintain student files./li
liMaintain confidentiality./li
liFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures./li
liAbide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics./li
liPerform such other tasks assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned./li
