Lead Mechanic

Job Description:

Are you a seasoned mechanic with a passion for managing operations and keeping heavy equipment running at peak performance? Join our well-established Excavation and Trucking company as a Shop Manager responsible for overseeing the service, maintenance, and repair of our fleet, which includes dump trucks, semis, and heavy construction machinery.

We’re seeking a hands-on leader with 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment and diesel repair, a deep understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, and the ability to manage a shop with a focus on quality, safety, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the shop
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various equipment types
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
• Manage inventory of tools, parts, and equipment
• Supervise and mentor junior mechanics and technicians
• Ensure all work meets safety standards and company expectations
• Coordinate with operations teams for timely equipment availability
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
• Be available for overtime and emergency repairs as needed

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment, trucks, and construction machinery
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electronic diagnostics
• Previous experience managing or leading a mechanical team or shop preferred
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence
