Salary:

The Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) provides direct support, education, and counseling to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The CADC plays a vital role in assessment, treatment planning, group facilitation, and individual counseling services. This role supports clients in developing recovery strategies, building life skills, and maintaining sobriety in alignment with evidence-based practices and program goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct substance use assessments and screenings using approved tools and protocols.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Provide individual and group counseling focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, and life management.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Facilitate structured psychoeducational groups and therapeutic support groups.
  • Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources and supportive services.
  • Collaborate with case managers, medical staff, and other behavioral health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor client progress, conduct ongoing evaluations, and revise treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain certification and stay current with continuing education and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid CADC certification in the state of Kentucky
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a human services-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment, recovery models, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality laws and ethical standards related to substance use treatment.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or another language is a plus.
  • Experience with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and Medicaid billing procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • May include evenings or weekends depending on program needs.
  • Work environment may include office, group room, and/or community settings.
