Articulates descriptions of orthopedic conditions based on an understanding of anatomical structures and their relationship with one another./liliDemonstrates knowledge of the proper application of aseptic techniques in dressing change and removal of sutures/staples.  Prepares and assists with wound care and dressing changes as directed by a physician./liliPerform a variety of related activities including removing sutures/staples applying and removing casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices./liliEffectively assists in documentation of physician orders such as prescriptions, physical and occupational therapy, studies performed by outside facilities requiring written documentation and return to work/physical activity slips./liliConsistently develop and maintain a complete inventory of required clinical items.  Cleans and stocks patient exams, treatment, and storage rooms./liliGreets patients in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner and assists patients into the exam room completing all initiation of visit requirements./liliDevelops and improves skills in the organization of work and in assisting the physician of economy in time, motion, and materials./liliAccurately and efficiently performs many administrative duties, including but not limited to in-basket and telephone communication, documentation in medical records, obtaining reports, and completion of insurance and /or disability forms, pre-certifications and authorizations. /li/ul Education Requirements: ulliHigh School Diploma or GED, required/li/ul License/Certification Requirements: ulliCompletion of a Certified Orthopedic Technology or Registered- Orthopedic Technologist training program, preferred/li/ul Special Requirements: ulliCompletion of an accredited medical assistant program with 1-year direct supervision of Orthopedic Surgeon/li/ul Salary Min ($): USD $21.98 Salary Max ($): USD $33.00
