This PRN opportunity offers flexible scheduling and competitive compensation to qualified Nurse Practitioners eager to make a meaningful difference. As a vital part of Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, you'll perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, helping Veterans across Alaska while enjoying professional autonomy and excellent pay.

Required Skills:

• Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Alaska
• Proven experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine
• Strong interview and physical assessment skills (range of motion testing, muscle strength evaluation)
• Ability to work independently within a set geographic radius
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to complete exams in a timely manner, including report submission and addendums

Nice to Have Skills:

• Previous experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veterans health assessments
• Familiarity with medical documentation, certifications, and relevant procedures
• Bilingual abilities or additional language proficiency

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Master s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (APRN certification)
• Minimum of 2 years clinical practice experience, ideally in primary or internal medicine
• Prior experience with government or military-related assessments

Other Requirements:

• Own office location within the specified radius in Juneau, Sitka, or Delta Junction
• Ability to perform exams on a PRN, ongoing basis
• Fast credentialing process and onboarding
• Willingness to complete required training and perform initial exams to qualify for a bonus
• Local candidates only; travel is included in the rate

This position offers flexible half-day (4-hour) and full-day (8-hour) shifts, with competitive flat rates of $600 and $1200 respectively, along with a one-time $650 bonus upon completing training and initial exams. Work is primarily interview-based with some physical assessments, with no prescribing or treatment involved. Regular administrative follow-up work is included within the assigned shifts.
