Very busy Westlake Village personal injury law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney.
Pay Range: $120,000 - $180,000 (dependent on experience and performance bonuses)
Experience required: minimum 3 years as a Litigator. If you have experience in Personal Injury litigation that is a huge plus, but the right candidate with litigation experience and an interest in learning Personal Injury law will be considered. This position requires great organization and time management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Strong interpersonal skills for client interactions and negotiations with opposing counsel is a necessity. We are a small and very friendly office. The right candidate must work well in a fast-paced, high demand, and jovial atmosphere.
This full-time position’s compensation is $120,000 to $160,000 depending upon experience (plus periodic discretionary performance bonuses). By way of example, the vast majority of our team members received bonuses that exceeded 20% of their annual earnings last year, this year we have increased earnings and set bi-annual performance reviews for up to 10% bonus on last six months earnings. The position includes a marketing budget and firm-sponsored marking plan. Position also includes a bonus structure for 1/3 of fees on generated cases. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, 401(k) w/ 3% employer contribution. 17 paid holidays plus 3 weeks of PTO.

Westlake Injury Law is a plaintiffs personal injury law firm established in 2009. Our litigation staff is relentless in bringing defendants and insurance carriers to justice through hard pressed litigation. We have a close-knit small office of 11 hard-working team members and growing. We are located in beautiful Westlake Village and enjoy regular lunches as a group at local restaurants and wine Friday on our large patio overlooking the city.
Our firm is organized with a pre-litigation and litigation department. Our ligation department includes five case managers working under two attorneys. We are seeking to add one highly-qualified litigator. The Associate Attorney will work to perform the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate new cases through targeted marketing plan provided by the firm
- Develop plan for each client to ensure maximum physical and economic recovery
- Drafting demand letters, complaints, discovery, motions in both state and federal courts; the ability to implement and execute a discovery plan; drafting oppositions to Motion for Summary Judgment
- Evaluate case value, implement a plan for ensuring maximum recovery and ensure clients are well-prepared and understand the importance of their treatment plan; Actively communicate with clients throughout their treatment and representation; Negotiate with adjusters and opposing counsel to settle cases
- Prepare clients for their depositions; defendant and take depositions of witnesses
- Drafting governmental claims
- Vetting and retaining expert witnesses, ensuring they are well-versed in the case and that timely reports are prepared and complete
- All aspects of trial preparation, trial filings and pre-trial motions: exhibit lists, and exhibit compendiums, witness lists, memorandum of facts and law, jury instructions, verdict forms; preparing trial statements, directs and cross-examination; preparing witnesses for trial
- Use Clio case management software to manage, organize and document the file
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years experience working in a law firm as a litigation attorney absolutely required; personal injury experience, defense or plaintiffs preferred but not required. Trial experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of litigation processes and procedures and civil procedure in state and federal court
- Familiarity with calendaring and docketing procedures and rules
- Strong attention to details and excellent time management skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications and preferred experience with Clio
- Exceptional communications skills are critical
- Will work on-site at our facility located at Westlake Village (no option to work remote).
