Automotive Service Writer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automotive Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the key liaison between customers and our service technicians, ensuring accurate communication of service needs, estimates, and repair timelines. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and listen to their automotive concerns and service needs
• Write and open repair orders (ROs) with detailed customer concerns and vehicle information
• Coordinate with technicians to determine necessary services and repairs
• Provide accurate cost and time estimates for automotive work
• Communicate service recommendations to customers in a clear, non-technical manner
• Follow up with customers regarding work status and obtain authorization for additional services
• Ensure repair orders are accurate, complete, and properly closed
• Maintain service records and assist with warranty claims
• Uphold excellent customer service and satisfaction standards
• Schedule service appointments and manage daily service workflow
• Process payments and review invoices with customers

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or automotive certification preferred)
• Previous experience in an automotive service advisor or service writer role
• Working knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Proficiency with service management software (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, ShopKey, etc.)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASE certification or relevant automotive training
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
• Familiarity with warranty procedures and insurance claims
