Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Cardiothoracic/ Cardiovascular Surgeon to work locum shifts in Lufkin Texas (TX). Starting December 2025 , the role offers ongoing work with a competitive market rate and benefits.

The Cardiothoracic/ Cardiovascular Surgery role:

Schedule/Availability Requirements:

• Looking for locum CV Surgery coverage for the below urgent December dates to provide 24-hour call coverage across three different facilities
• 12/4(5p)-12/8(7a) - on going availability available when perm doctor is not working.
• Average Callback Hours: Weekday 6.67 hours, Weekend 3.5 hours
• Setting: primarily inpatient surgical coverage for ED & referred elective cases
• FTE: 1.0
• # Providers Needed: 1 FTE open to the use of multiple Surgeons to make a full-time schedule
• Duties: CV Surgical coverage
• Required Procedures: full scope CV Surgery
• EMR: Cerner; McKesson; Paragon
• Clinic Setting: Cerner Mckesson Cardiology
• Hospital Setting: Paragon & CHS Proprietary EMR
• Patients per Day: 10-15
• Support Staff: typical in clinic & hospital resources
• Worksite Resources: typical in clinic & hospital resources
• Reason for Coverage: separation with current employed Surgeon

Requirements of the role:

• TX state license; active, unrestricted
• Will consider IMLC or Letter of Qualification
• Residency Requirements/Fellowship: CV surgery fellowship required
• Board Certified American Board of Thoracic Surgery
• TX State DEA
• BLS and ALCS
• Case logs must be submitted upon presentation
• Must have a clean malpractice for emergency privileges
